Driving Directions To Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort

Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort is located in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste on the Northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica in Central America. The Resort is nestled on a hill overlooking the majestic Pacific Ocean and surrounded by lush tropical gardens.

Villas Sol is 4 hours driving distance from the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San José and a short 20 minute drive from the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste.

You may rent a car, arrange a private transfer or take a taxi from San José to our Resort, but we strongly recommend  that you fly directly to the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (LIR), Guanacaste which is only 20 minutes away from our Beach Resort.

You may also take a 45-minute flight from San José via NATURE AIR or SANSA. Transfers to and from the resort may be arranged upon request.

Driving from the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO) to Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort:

  1. Take the Interamerican Highway (Highway 1 on your map) from the airport, Northbound  towards Guanacaste.
  2. Drive about 243 kms (152 miles) until you get to the city of Liberia, were you will see a stop light, a gas station and a Burger King on your left.
  3. Turn left heading westbound towards Playa Hermosa and drive for 20 minutes until you reach the Do It Center hardware store and then turn right.
  4. Drive 1.5 kms (1 mile) and then take a left towards Bahia Papagayo
  5. Watch for signs for Playa Hermosa and the blue signs for Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort.
  6. When you get to Bahia Papagayo (Playa Panama) take a left and drive 5 kms (3 miles) until you reach the town of Playa Hermosa.
  7. The Resort is the first property on the Right where the entrance is a large gate with security, at this gate please show the guards your Hotel confirmation or reservation and identification.
  8. After entering the Resort, drive up the street (please note: the first entrance on the right is the entrance to the Villas but you must register at the Hotel's reception).
  9. Continue going up a small slope to the right  to the hotel which is a three story building overlooking the Pacific ocean.
  10. The lobby is located on the second floor where you must register.

Driving from the Liberia International Airport in Guanacaste (LIR) to Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort:

  1. Exit the Airport and take a right towards Playa Hermosa.
  2. Head Westbound towards Playa Hermosa and drive for 10 minutes until you reach the Do It Center hardware store and turn right.
  3. Drive 1.5 kms (1 mile) and then take a left towards Bahia Papagayo (Playa Panama).
  4. Watch for signs for Playa Hermosa and the blue road signs for Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort.
  5. When you get to Bahia Papagayo (Playa Panama) take a left and drive 5 kms (3 miles) until you reach the town of Playa Hermosa.

If at any moment you believe you are lost, please  contact the Resort for further assistance (the Resort's phone number is 2672-0001 and the Main Office phone number is 2257-0607), the Resort is open 24 hours a day.  Please carry with you Costa Rican coins for a public pay phone (¢50 - ¢100). If you have a roadside emergency please call your car rental company, travel agency or dial 911.
