In order to be able to legally marry in Costa Rica please read the following items for your consideration.

Marriage Requirements 

• Complete name with surnames.
• Nationality & passport number.
• Age at the time of the wedding.
• Birth place (city, state, country).
• Profession or occupation.
• Exact & detailed address of your home.
• Original valid passport & copies for both Groom & Bride.
• Marital status certification for both Groom & Bride, authenticated by the nearest Costa Rica Consulate office.

In case of previous divorce you should add the name of the previous partner, place and date where the divorce took place; or if applicable, place and date of decease.

Additionally, in order to be able to legally register your wedding in the country of origin, you should obtain a matrimony certification released by the Costa Rica Civil Registry; and it should also be translated by an official translator and authenticated by a notary public. This document is processed by the CR Civil Registry, and afterwards air-mailed to the newlyweds.
