About Villas Sol

Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort started out as a vision. Officially established on September 1974, the founders of Villas Sol started out on an ambitious quest to develop one of the first and most recognized tourism projects in Costa Rica.

In 1980, Condovac La Costa in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste was born with 101 fully equipped ocean view villas, tennis court, 4 restaurants, 4 bars, dive shop, welcome center, convenience store, souvenir store, internal shuttles and a large Resort pool. Condovac La Costa was fitted with everything needed for a casual stay at the beach and quickly became Costa Rica's most famous and prestiguious Resort. The Condovac La Costa project  represented a huge boom to the tourism industry in Guanacaste and until today is recognized as the pioneer development of Costa Rica. Ten years later in 1990 a 54-room deluxe oceanview hotel was built and incorporated to the Villas Sol Family.

By 1993 a new project called La Costa del Cacique Condominium consisting of a completely urbanized area with 110 fully equipped villas was born. Three years later almost half of the compound was completely sold out to individual investors from the United States, Canada and Costa Rica. Due to this huge success, 31 timeshare villas and a Ronald Zurcher designed world class Restaurant were added a few years later. In 2007 and 2008, Villas Sol was renovated to suit the demands of a more upscale market. Renovations included the upgrade of all of its timeshare villas and hotel rooms, the construction of 14 luxury ocean view villas and the expansion of the hotel's parking area. Future plans include the development of a 7-story  ocean view residential tower, construction of 65 additional hotel rooms and expansion of its amenities such as a new conference center, a casino, a new infinity view pool, two new a la carte restaurants and a deluxe spa & fitness center.

Constantly renovating and adding more units and amenities, Villas Sol Hotel & Beach Resort continues to expand and hold its ground as a pioneer in Guanacaste's tourism industry and a leader in Hospitality.
